Onstage, the Chamber Arts Festival of Marbletown is dedicated to presenting
world-class chamber music by artists of international reputation; offstage, the Festival is an active participant in the Marbletown community.
Youth Programs
Just as they did during the past three seasons, artists and ensembles will go into the schools. The district is enthusiastic: "We believe that presentations, lecture demonstrations, and master classes given by celebrated instrumentalists and vocalists can only increase and deepen our students' awareness of the power and potential of music," says Eileen L. Camasso, Rondout's Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. "The district's curriculum is strong in choral and band music," says Artistic Director David Alpher. "The Festival's youth program offers Rondout students an intensive exposure to classical chamber music as well—with a particular emphasis on strings."
In addition, the Festival awards up to two $1000 scholarships annually to Rondout Valley High School seniors who are going on to pursue a Bachelor of Music degree or a Bachelor of Arts degree with a concentration in music in college.
